Rumor Has It … Matthew Vaughn In Talks To Direct “Flash Gordon” Movie


Rumor has it that Matthew Vaughn, director of the surprise hit Kingsman: The Secret Service, is in negotiations to direct Flash Gordon.

“Vaughn, who has shown an affinity for geek-friendly material with his comic book movies Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class, became highly sought by numerous studios after Kingsman. The movie, based on a Mark Millar-written comic, was released in February and has grossed more than $392 million worldwide on a reported budget of $81 million.” Read the full article in The Hollywood Reporter here.

  1. This sounds promising…with the success of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the anticipation about
    the upcoming Star Wars films, sounds like the time is ripe for a new “Flash Gordon” film.

    It’s interesting to note that George Lucas, Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone and Nicolas Roeg all
    tried to make a “Flash Gordon” feature film at some point in their careers. Leone also tried
    to make a film of Lee Falk’s “The Phantom” as well!
